How to Copy and Paste Styles Between Elements

Easily copy and paste visual styles between compatible elements in your design editor.

Updated this week

The Copy & Paste Styles feature lets you quickly duplicate visual styles from one element to another, boosting productivity and ensuring consistent design. Whether you’re styling text, images, buttons, or shapes, this tool helps you save time while keeping your designs on brand.

Where to Find the Copy & Paste Styles Option

You can find the Copy Style icon in the properties bar when an element is selected.

  • Copy: Click the icon to capture the current style of the selected element.

  • Paste: The paste action will be available for a single click by default. If you hold the Alt key, you can paste the style to multiple elements without needing to copy again.

Note: Copy & Paste Styles works in the stage area of the editor, so you can also switch between slides while using it.

Compatibility Rules for Style Copying

Same-Type Elements Only

You can only paste a style between elements of the same type. For example:

  • ✅ Text → Text

  • ✅ Image → Image

  • ✅ Illustration → Illustration

  • ❌ Image → Illustration

If the element types don’t match, you’ll see a white roller icon when hovering—indicating the paste action is unavailable. When pasting is possible, the roller icon turns black.

Special Rules for SVG and Vector Elements

  • Preset Vector Shapes (from the Shapes section) have unique styling properties defined by CSS scripts. They can share styles with other preset shapes but not with other SVG-based elements.

  • Other SVG Elements (shapes, lines, icons, illustrations, brand logos) are generally compatible with each other for style pasting.

How Copy & Paste Styles Works

When you copy a style, the feature captures the first set of applied styling options and applies them to the target element, keeping the existing properties that aren’t overridden.

For example:

  • If an illustration has 7 color sections and you paste the style onto one with 4 color sections, only the first 4 will be applied.

Examples of Properties That Can Be Copied

  • Images: Color filters, scale crop (if applicable)

  • Text: Font style, color, size

  • Buttons: Fill color, border settings

  • Shapes: Fill color, stroke style

In short, styling properties define how an element looks in terms of color, texture, and appearance—making it simple to replicate a visual style across your project.
