How to Remove the Background of an Image

You can remove the background from any image layer in both the Editor and the Generator. This paid feature helps you isolate subjects quickly and saves the background-free image for reuse across designs.

Who can use background removal

Background removal is available on the following paid plans, with usage limits depending on your plan:

  • Pro: 30 background removals

  • Plus: 100 background removals

  • Team: 200 background removals

Background removal is powered by a third-party service, which is why usage limits apply.

How to remove the background from an image

  1. Select the image layer on the canvas.

  2. Click the image to open the contextual menu.

  3. Choose Remove background.

  4. Preview the result.

  5. If the preview looks good, confirm the background removal.

Once confirmed, the background will be removed from the image on the canvas.

Previewing before confirming

When you preview a background removal:

  • You can check the result before committing.

  • A preview consumes 0.5 removals from your plan limit.

This allows you to test the result without fully using one background removal.

What happens after background removal

After you confirm the removal:

  • The image with the background removed is applied to your design.

  • A duplicate of the image (with the background removed) is automatically saved in My Uploads.

  • You can reuse this image later in other designs without removing the background again.

Remove background from My Uploads

You can also remove the background from images stored in Brand Library → My Uploads.

This option is available for PNG and JPG files and can be accessed in two ways:

  • From the More menu (three dots) on an image thumbnail

  • When opening an image and selecting View

The same preview and confirmation flow applies, and usage counts toward your plan limits.

Important notes

  • Background removal works only on image layers.

  • Usage limits reset on a monthly basis.

  • Previewing counts toward your limit (0.5 removals per preview).

  • Background removal is also available from Brand Library → My Uploads for PNG and JPG files.
