How to Make Your Entire Banner Clickable When Using AdTag

Learn how to make your entire banner clickable when using AdTag by setting a Banner URL, updating the live embed, and testing the final AdTag before publishing or sending it to your agency.

When using AdTag, you can make the entire banner clickable and send users to the same landing page, regardless of where they click on the creative.

You don't need to add a link to every element individually. Instead, set a Banner URL in your AdTag settings.

Make the entire banner clickable

  1. Open your design in the editor.

  2. Click Download in the top-right corner.

  3. Select the AdTag tab.

    1. If AdTag isn't enabled for the design yet, click Add custom AdTag and select the ad network you want to use. If you don't need a network-specific AdTag, select Standard, then click the Add network button.

  4. Under URL Settings, enter your landing page in the Banner URL field.

    For example:

    https://www.example.com

  5. After adding or changing the URL, you may see a New Draft Available notification.

Click Use latest saved version for embed to apply the change to your live AdTag.

You don't need to replace the existing AdTag code when updating the banner.

  6. Once the status shows You're up to date!, click Copy AdTag.

Your AdTag is now ready to be added to your ad platform or sent to your agency. Clicking anywhere on the banner will open the URL you entered under Banner URL.

How to test the AdTag

Before sending the AdTag to your agency or publishing it in an ad platform, you can test it in an AdTag testing environment.

  1. Copy the AdTag from Bannersnack.

  2. Paste it into an AdTag tester or preview environment, such as this one.

  3. Wait for the banner to load.

  4. Click somewhere outside the CTA button, such as the background, headline, or image.

  5. Confirm that the landing page you entered under Banner URL opens.

If the destination opens when clicking outside an individually linked element, the entire banner is clickable.

Note: The Banner URL in the AdTag settings controls the destination for the entire banner.
