Best practices for the Generator!

Improve your workflow with our Design Generator

We noticed that some of you have had issues with content placement in some sizes from the set.

To avoid that, we recommend starting with three main shapes in three different sizes: square, leaderboard, and skyscraper.

Once you have loaded the sizes you can start customizing the designs and then simply add the rest of the sizes once you’re done. This way, you can avoid any misplacing issues that might come up when generating additional designs.

A new addition that will surely improve your productivity within the Generator, is the ability to rename all of your layers and keep them more organized.

Another useful feature is the "Position grid" option that allows you to align objects independently on specific layouts from the set. This is a tremendous help when using different layouts and orientations on designs from the same set.

Other great traits from the Generator include the Lock Properties, Lock Transition, and Sync options. With these, you can now lock element styles or transitions on specific sizes from the set.

Suppose you've tested out different text and color designs on some sizes from your set and now you just want to set all of them back to their original layout. That's now possible with the new Sync option that allows you to set a Text or Button layer on all sizes to the original settings you've set up in the global layer toolbar. It is also possible to pick a new color or text and sync all sizes to that.

Elements and layers can also be synced on individual sizes while in focus mode from the settings tab of the layer. This is helpful if you're trying to sync only one size instead of doing it for all of the layers in the set then modifying the rest individually.

A similar feature to the one mentioned above is the individual lock layer setting which, like the sync function, can be done on individual sizes. Once this is enabled, any modifications to the general layers will not apply on sizes where the lock property has been enabled.

This option helps a lot if you want to use a different message or text style on just some sizes from the set but keep in mind that it will also block the Sync mode so you cannot sync elements in the Generator that have the lock option enabled.

That's not all, as you can also lock a transition for a specific layer from the set. So if you want to combine multiple effects from the Magic Animator you just need to lock the transition and use another animation template.

If you're a fan of custom animations then we have another cool tip for you!

Let's say you want to apply a custom animation on all of your sizes at once but you don't want to copy/paste the layouts on each design.

In that case, the best way would be to create just one size at first, add your assets and animate them with custom effects using Focus mode and then save the set (CTRL/CMD+S). Once you’ve done that, simply edit the set and add the rest of the sizes. In that way, not only the layers but also the animation effects will be transferred to all sizes.

But wait, there’s more! Let’s assume that you already have all the sizes and while working on them you realize that a different animation will work better. You might think that you now need to change the animation for each size individually but with our copy paste feature from the Generator’s timeline, you can apply an animation to all sizes or just on specific layouts: square, vertical or horizontal.

Also, you can now use Focus mode to copy and paste objects from one slide to another, greatly reducing the time you need to spend on re-designing that layer, improving your workflow in the process.

All you have to do is enter focus mode and copy an element using CTRL+C then move on to the size on which you want to paste it, and hit CTRL+V (CMD+C/ CMD+V) on your keyboard. It’s that easy!

Also, you can simply drag & drop files to any sizes using the Focus mod and this is a huge time saver when you need to add an image just to a specific size from the set.

Good luck and we hope this helps!
