Troubleshooting Pending Domain or SSL Status for Your Branded Share Link

Fix pending domain or SSL status issues for your branded share link. Learn how to verify CNAME records and resolve SSL conflicts.

Updated this week

If you’ve followed the steps in our Custom Branding Setup Guide and your domain or SSL certificate status is still showing Pending, your branded share link won’t work as intended.

This article will help you:

  • Identify common setup mistakes.

  • Correct CNAME record issues.

  • Resolve SSL certificate conflicts with your hosting provider.

1. Domain Name Status is Pending

If your domain status remains Pending, it’s usually caused by an incorrect CNAME setup in your domain’s DNS registrar.

Steps to Fix:

  1. Open your domain registrar’s DNS settings and confirm the CNAME record for your chosen subdomain.

    • You can use any prefix you like, such as designads or designs.

    • The format should be:

      designads.mywebsite.com
  2. Point the subdomain to:

    share.bannersnack.com
  3. Check for typos in:

Pro Tip: DNS propagation can take several hours. If your setup is correct, allow time before rechecking the status.

2. SSL Certificate Status is Pending

If you’ve enabled the SSL connection option but the certificate status is Pending, the problem may be with your hosting provider’s SSL settings.

Common Causes and Fixes:

  • Your website does not support HTTPS.
Ensure your hosting provider supports SSL connections.

  • SSL negotiation conflicts.
When SSL is enabled in your account, our server initiates certificate negotiation with your hosting provider.

    • Some providers (e.g., Cloudflare) also perform SSL negotiation by default, causing conflicts.

    • Solution: Temporarily disable SSL certificate negotiation in your hosting settings so our certificate can be issued successfully.

3. When to Contact Support

If you’ve completed the checks above and your status is still Pending:

  • Reach out via email.

  • We’ll walk you through DNS validation and SSL troubleshooting step-by-step.
