How to Add and Manage Animations in Your Designs

Learn how to add, edit, and manage animations in your designs. Use middle animations, hover triggers, bulk editing, and timeline scrubber.

Updated this week

Animations make your designs more dynamic and engaging. With the timeline feature, you can control build-in, middle, and build-out animations, giving each layer extra movement to capture attention.

Adding Middle Animations

Middle animations allow you to add movement between the build-in and build-out transitions of any element.

  • Use them to highlight buttons or make objects stand out.

  • Options include shaking, blinking, pulsating, and more, ensuring your designs feel lively and interactive.

Animation Triggers

When applying middle animations, you can choose between different trigger types:

1. Timeline-Based

Animations run automatically with custom duration, start, and end points set directly in the timeline.

2. On Hover

Animations are triggered when users hover over an element—great for interactive effects that emphasize key design parts.

3. Infinite Loop

Animations repeat endlessly, looping based on the time frame of the layer or slide.

Using the Timeline Scrubber

The timeline scrubber helps you easily preview and adjust animations:

  • Drag the handle to set a new play position.

  • Scrub over transitions for a frame-by-frame preview.

  • Click anywhere on the timeline ruler to set a starting point.

  • Reset to the beginning with the “Reset play position” option.

This makes it simple to fine-tune your animations before publishing.

Copy and Paste Animation Presets

To speed up workflow, you can copy animations and paste them onto other layers.

  • In the Editor, you can paste a transition with timing (including start time and duration) or use the default option to adjust only the preset.

  • In the Design Generator, you can apply copied animations to all sizes in a set—or only to specific layouts (e.g., rectangles).

Bulk Editing Multiple Layers

Save time by editing multiple layers at once:

  • Apply the same transition to multiple elements with one click.

  • Remove animations across several layers instantly.

  • Adjust start/end times or paste transitions to multiple layers simultaneously.

This feature is especially useful for large projects with many elements.

Where to Find Animation Controls

Animations are managed directly in the timeline at the bottom of the editor. Clicking the transition button in the properties bar will open the timeline, giving you full control over build-in, middle, and build-out animations.
